Control Board
Desktop monitoring for home labs: Proxmox hosts and guests, Kubernetes, service checks, certificates and alerts in a single window. For Windows and Linux.
What's new
Windows 0.11.57 — 15 October 2026
Control Board can now make changes in your lab with your permission, monitors more of it, and can send alerts to your phone. Every feature that makes a change is off until you turn it on in Settings > Controls.
- Guest power: start, shut down, reboot or force stop a Proxmox guest from its page, or several at once. Stopping guests requires typing the guest’s name (or, for several, how many), and you can require a PIN. One of your actions can run first.
- Kubernetes: restart a workload, or scale a Deployment or StatefulSet.
- Terminal: a shell on a host, opened from the host’s drawer.
- Guided maintenance: host by host, the guests move to the other hosts, the host is upgraded and rebooted if it needs to, then the guests move back.
- UPS shutdown order: when a UPS runs low, the guests you chose shut down one at a time, after a 60-second countdown that can be canceled.
- Audit log (Settings): every change made from Control Board, who made it, on which PC and when.
- Phone and other alerts (Settings): ntfy, Pushover, Gotify, email and webhooks. Alerts are also less noisy: repeated alerts are grouped, flapping alerts are held back, and you can set your own severity levels.
- New monitoring: Proxmox backup jobs and failed runs; disk health, wear and temperatures; Docker containers, their health and restarts; UPS battery, load and runtime over NUT.
- Overview: “If a host goes down” shows whether its guests would fit on the others. The Overview and network map can show one site at a time.
- Folders group guests by Proxmox pool, or into folders of your own. Saved views keep a page with its filters and layout one click away.
- Guests show their Proxmox tag colors, and the host drawer’s Disk chart shows read and write.
- Adding Proxmox asks up front whether to log in with an SSH key or a read-only API token.
- On smaller screens, a maximized window fills the screen.
- The update dialog now shows the correct build date.
- Lab agent (preview): an optional small program on a Linux machine in your lab that keeps watching, and sends your alerts, while your PC is off. The app carries it and can install it over SSH (Sources > Add a source > Advanced > Agent in your lab). A copy of the app only reads through it until you allow it with the agent’s PIN.
Testers on 0.10.23 are offered this update inside the app.
Linux 0.1.2 — 7 October 2026
- Guest power: start, shut down, reboot or force stop a Proxmox guest from its page. It’s off until you turn it on in Settings > Controls, and it’s offered only when the site’s login is allowed to. Stopping a guest asks you to type its name; you can require a PIN as well.
- Adding Proxmox asks up front whether to log in with an SSH key or a read-only API token.
- On smaller screens, a maximized window fills the screen, and a host on its own uses the full width.
- The update dialog now shows the correct build date.
Linux 0.1.1 — 6 October 2026
- Guests show in the colors Proxmox gives their tags, including colors set under Datacenter > Options > Tag Style. Settings > Guest colors switches back to Control Board’s own palette.
- US spelling throughout.
Linux 0.1.0 — 6 October 2026
The first Linux version of Control Board.
- Hosts, guests, network map, Kubernetes, services, alerts and backups in one window, read from your computer from the sources you add.
- Install the .deb (Ubuntu, Debian and others that use apt), or run the AppImage.
- Secrets you paste are kept in your system keyring.
- Runs in the system tray and starts at login; this can be turned off from the tray menu.
- With the .deb, signed updates are delivered in the app.
Windows 0.10.23 — 5 October 2026
Control Board now adapts to any setup, from a single server to multiple sites with hundreds of guests.
- Layout setting: Auto, Always full or Always compact. Auto switches to compact past 6 hosts or 60 guests.
- Network map: sites fold to one summary box (Open all / Fold all). Each host shows its own port speed, and traffic colors show the share of that port, or of your internet speed if you choose that in Settings.
- Overview groups hosts by site, with a filter box on bigger setups.
- Kubernetes separates your applications from the cluster’s platform components; you can move a namespace between the two.
- Long lists now have a filter, an “only problems” switch and “show more”.
- Setup: Proxmox in one step over SSH, using a key file you already have. Every source can be edited in the app, and each Proxmox site can have its own login. Advanced options are shown, not hidden.
- Settings: seven themes, a font and text-size choice, and your own actions and host checks managed here.
- Host detail: guest charts from the map, plus disk and pressure charts. A kubeconfig can come from a file.
- Control Board reuses one connection per host instead of opening one for each check.
Testers on 0.10.4 are offered this update inside the app.
Windows 0.10.4 — 5 October 2026
Host checks now run only over Control Board’s own SSH connection (Sources > Host access). An older, unused route through WSL has been removed.
Windows 0.10.3 — 4 October 2026
First alpha release.
- Setup wizard: add Proxmox, Kubernetes, web checks and SSH host access; each source is tested to be read-only before it can be saved
- Overview, host detail graphs, network map, Kubernetes, services and certificates, alerts with history and maintenance windows
- Host checks: your own read-only commands, run on every host
- Secrets in Windows Credential Manager
- Signed in-app updates
