Abilities, controls and the end of a battle

EaW U ·

EaW U recreates the space skirmish of Forces of Corruption, and every rule it uses is matched against the original game rather than estimated. A large set of changes was merged on 2026-10-03; the ones players will notice are below.

Abilities

  • The MC30 and the Krayt now drop their bombs the way the original decides: by how many enemies are close and how strong they are.
  • Rebel frigates now decide when to raise their PowerToShields defense from the damage they are taking. That decision logic is complete; the rest of the ability is still in progress.
  • Pressing Defend, Interdict or Tractor Beam could toggle the ability incorrectly, depending on its current state. It now switches correctly.
  • Five abilities you can switch off early now recharge only for the time they actually ran, instead of the full cooldown.
  • An ion hit now cuts a ship’s engines whenever it drains energy, not only when it empties the ship completely.

Controls

  • Left-clicking an asteroid that ships cannot fly through no longer sends your fleet toward it.
  • A right double-click now follows your own Windows double-click speed, as in the original game.
  • Ctrl+Alt with a waypoint set now sends a single direct move instead of adding to the queue.

Reinforcements and the build bar

  • A reinforcement you place now faces the direction set by its owner’s spawn marker on the map, and the placement preview faces the same way.
  • A ship’s price on the build bar now grays out only when that build queue is full.
  • The encyclopedia card now has the original’s frame and glow.

Ending a battle

The end of a battle now follows the original: a short wait after victory, then a pause, then the exit. The end screen itself is still to come.

What’s next

Planned next: the bombs’ visual effects, canceling abilities, the fog-of-war grid and fleet formations. No dates have been set.
